Human Right violations in Kashmir since 1990

Human Rights violation in Kashmir was witnessed since Indian Forces occupied the land in Jammu and Kashmir. Their purpose to enter Kashmir was to keep vigil of border areas and to safeguard people, but from 1990 situation in Jammu and Kashmir started turning worst as people who were living their lives with simplicity and peace changed with time.

In one’s own soil their identity became biggest issue for those who don’t belong to this soil. At every step people know they are being followed, privacy is breached, property vandalized innocence is crushed every now and then.

Those who question people of Kashmir and call security forces “RAKSHAK” I would tell them have a visit to Kashmir and see how much Kashmiris have been through all these years by keeping your personal grudges aside.

From passing comments and talking silly from your comfort zones is easy. Because it is easy to add fire to the fuel but it takes much efforts and time to douse it. Many people raise questions why people throw stones on security personnel’s, your questions are justified because “Indian Media” selects, edits and air it as per its own wish and that actually works like as it is said in Hypodermic needle model.

How many civilians get killed during encounter and it’s not because they all were indulged in stone pelting some become soft target for forces. But none ever raise alarm on them. I have never seen Indian media doing debates on Human Rights Violation in Kashmir. Isn’t it discrimination?

On Dec 19, Beauty Jan who became target of government forces when she was in her home with baby in lap received bullet in her abdomen, “According to her uncle Ghulam Muhammad Bhat, said Beauty Jan, 24, was sitting in a room with her baby in her lap when a bullet was fired from outside through window.”

Politicians keep on bickering “Kashmir is part of India” if so why are Human Rights Violation taking place. Why aren’t their cries that why everyday a human life is lost?
Every right has been violated in Kashmir unnecessarily people are being troubled, their properties are vandalised, and almost 10,000 people went missing rather disappeared whose whereabouts are not known yet. Their parents are still hoping for their return but so far Government of J&K has done nothing.

Although no parent wants his son to join militancy still Families of those who have joined militancy are being harassed; So many rapes took place in Kashmir especially Kunan Poshpora Mass rape in Kashmir which occurred on February 23, 1991. It is really horrendous. Innocent people were killed in fake encounters and many brutal massacres took place in Kashmir.

Tihar inmates were beaten up ruthlessly, “The investigation directed by Delhi high court was established which found that the incident that took place on November 21 was a gross violation of fundamental human and other legal rights of prisoners who were assaulted physically without any justifiable reason.”

Chemical weapons are still being used which have blinded so many youths and today a Police official have admitted that use of pellet guns is misused in valley.

People of Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed horrific cases of torture; here juveniles are treated like adults. When a child observes such kind of harassment obviously it lays a great impact on his mentality and he chooses of taking revenge and that we all know better why educated youth are opting for militancy when they better know what can be its outcome.

If India is at safer side then why doesn’t it allow International bodies to visit Kashmir to monitor the situation itself? Few days ago French Journalist who was documenting pellet victims was put behind bars and when he came out he narrated how worst the experience was. So think how tacky it would be with Kashmiris who have been facing such violations since 1990.
