Occurs after US Announced Troop Increase in Afghanistan; Suicide Attack Kills 40 in Kabul

A terrorist attack took the lives of more than 40 Afghans and injured another 30 in Kabul, Afghanistan. According to Pajhwok news agency, the blast occurred in the morning, around 10:30, and targeted Tebyan cultural center.

Afghanistan’s deputy spokesman of the Interior Ministry also explained that the center hosts AVA news agency. Unconfirmed reports by Tolo News Agency indicate that the number of attackers was three and they held explosive belts. The suicide attack was aimed at killing more civilians, reports said.

Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the Minister of Interior, announced the number of casualties. Rahimi also asserted that civilians comprised most of the casualty. Besides, some of the injured people are still in critical condition and may lead to increase in the number of victims.

No group has still claimed responsibility for the attack while Taliban denied any role. US troops in Afghanistan made no remarks on the attack.

After more than a decade of their presence in Afghanistan, the US military forces made no achievement in providing security for citizens, what they claimed to be located there for. Recently, US announced the decision to increase the number of its troops in Afghanistan.
