Trump Plans to Make a Wall without Analyzing the Costs

According to the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), White House hasn’t calculated the exact cost of building a wall along the Mexico border. There should be an analysis of the costs for making a barrier along the US-Mexico border to measure the success and cost of the project.

GAO wrote that the physical barriers have been planned without analyzing the cost, so it wouldn’t ensure cost effectiveness, and would take longer than planned. Furthermore, CBP didn’t determine the place of building the all to reduce illegal immigration. So, billions of dollars would be waste in government spending if the project continues.

It has been predicted that part of problem is that Trump insisted that the Mexican government would pay for the wall while the leaders of the neighboring countries declared that they would not pay for this project. GAO has said that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would analyze the future cost of the physical barriers on the southern border.

Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat and the ranking member on the House Homeland Security Committee, has stated that Trump’s administration has urged to construct the unnecessary border wall without paying attention to the cost or consequences of the project.

Although Trump claimed there was progress on the wall at rallies nationwide, he has performed some immigration policies including “zero tolerance” policy that separated the children from their parents on the border.
